New Moon Women's Circle

Women coming together to support and guide each other has such great value as we grow and walk through this life. On the eve of the new moon we will connect through movement, mantra, meditation and sound healing as a way to create new bonds with ourselves and each other as women in this community. I am so happy to introduce you to Anushka Bogey and Melissa Shugart who will be leading this beautiful women's gathering and Kundalini experience.

Anushka is a sound healer, mantra artist and kundalini yoga practitioner. She has been practicing classical hatha yoga for 25 years and her current practice of kundalini yoga as taught by Yogi Bhajan since becoming a mother twelve years ago. She began holding women’s circle around the cycles of the moon in her home three years ago to bring women together to support each other in their spiritual growth through setting intentions and the shared experience of kundalini yoga.

Anushka says, “when women gather together to elevate themselves and each other on a spiritual and energetic level, major shifts in our being can occur that lead to grace, openness, compassion, lovingkindness, authenticity, honesty, uninhibited shamelessness, self love, giving, listening, sharing, creativity, and being as one as powerful, uplifting, receptive, intuitive, creative, nurturing and loving women. My intention is to hold and share soul space for growth and evolution through the teachings of Kundalini Yoga as taught by Yogi Bhajan and to bring healing through the sound current. I hope you will join me in elevating our consciousness and tuning into our divine nature together again and again.”

With a background in Kinesiology as a certified Personal Trainer and Kundalini Yoga Instructor (RYT 500), Melissa has extensive experience in studying and teaching the art of movement through understanding biomechanics, anatomy, physiology, and neuroscience. As a Holistic Health Practicioner, Melissa is also trained to incorporate the Healing Arts into her work, blending traditional medicine with indigenous spirituality, supporting the balance of body, heart, and soul through dance, song, toning, chanting, prayer and sound healing instruments.

As a certified Birth & Postpartum Doula, Melissa offers prenatal yoga preparation for birth, and assists Mamas with comfort measures for optimal body balance and labor progress using breathwork, movement positions, massage, rebozo, and visualization techniques.

Kundalini Yoga as taught by Yogi Bhajan® is considered the most comprehensive of yoga traditions, combining meditation, mantra, physical exercises and breathing techniques; it is a Raj Yog, encompassing the eight limbs of yoga into a singular practice of excellence and ecstasy. Kundalini Yoga as taught by Yogi Bhajan® is also known as the Yoga of Awareness; its focus is on self-awareness and delivering an experience of your highest consciousness. The technology of Kundalini Yoga as taught by Yogi Bhajan® is a science of the mind and body, to elevate the spirit, which has no boundaries, no discrimination. Therefore it is for everyone, universal and nondenominational.

The evening will begin at 5pm, and we will have time to connect over a cup of tea and snacks. Please bring a yoga mat, a blanket, pillow or bolsters, anything that allows you to be comfortable both for movement and for deep relaxation as we end the evening with the crystal bowls and gong for a sound healing session. We have limited space as we are a small studio, so please reserve your spot here in advance, or RSVP through the studio to let us know you will be joining us.
